Anne-Marie Gardner
Practice Manager
Having worked in private healthcare organising and managing Consultant clinics, Anne-Marie is now our Practice Manager.
Anne-Marie manages the day to day running of the practice and reception staff. She has helped us to develop the clinic and has been a valued addition since 2007. In her spare time she is keen on running and swimming along with dog walking and supporting her very sporty children.

Karen Wiltshire
Accounts Manager and Receptionist
Karen is the Accounts Manager and has been with the clinic since 2003.
Karen ensures the smooth financial running of patient accounts, billing and liaising with medical and private insurance companies.
Karen has lived in Stroud all of her life and is well conversed with the Stroud area and people. She enjoys her spare time with her husband and two children.

Sabrina Ettrick
Receptionist
Sabrina has worked with us since 2008 and assists us on anything technical - helping us with graphic design and advertising. She also welcomes our clients on reception.
Sabrina originates from Cape Town, South Africa. She has spent over 25 years in Southern African countries before moving to the UK in 2007.
Her main skills are in information technology and this has proven invaluable for the clinic.

Geoff Twinning
Partner
Geoff is a Partner and is a Sports Injury Specialist and provides his expertise to international athletes and national teams including attending international events as part of the medical provision.
Geoff has represented Great Britain in Modern Pentathlon and is now focussing on triathlon and swimming. In 2008 he won silver at the British Championships in the 1500m and is attending the European Open Water Championships in 2009.
He graduated from Brunel University, London, in 2002 and has since worked extensively in the NHS and has now become established in private practice. In 2009 Geoff will be starting a Masters Degree in Sports Physiotherapy. He also is qualified in acupuncture and sports massage and is accredited with the Association of Acupuncture for Chartered Physiotherapists.
Since 2005 Geoff has worked as Team Physiotherapist for both Stroud RFC and Gloucestershire RFU providing elite care both pitch side and in the medical room. He is now working towards progressing to being selected for the 2012 Olympics as part of the medical services.

Jane Breen-Turner
Partner
Jane Breen-Turner completed her first degree in Psychology in 1989, studying subjects such as motivation, the female athlete and sports psychology. In the following years she worked in the Business sector as well as the Health & Leisure Industry gaining extensive experience in rehabilitation, strength & conditioning and biomechanics.
In 1997, Jane qualified as a Physiotherapist, during which time she was involved in clinical trials for knee pathology resulting in the publication of several research papers in the Physiotherapy Journal.
Jane is also a keen sportswoman and was able to put her interests in sport, psychology and physiotherapy together, in working with elite athletes at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, 2002 and for the next two years for The Great Britain Cycling Team travelling world wide. She went onto work at the Olympic Games in Athens, in 2004, based in the main athletes medical village covering various sports from athletes around the world. The following year she worked as a GB Team Physiotherapist at the Youth Olympic Games in Italy in 2005. She then became a business partner in the largest Physiotherapy clinic in Cheltenham until 2011. This involved treating a wide variety of neuromusculo-skeletal problems as well as a local equestrian para-olympic rider who went onto to obtain two gold medals at the Bejjing Olympics in 2008. Jane now brings her experience to Five Valley's to compliment her business partner, Geoff Twinning, making this the only clinic in the county to offer such a high level of expertise for all sportsman from recreational level to the elite athlete.

Sarah Bentley
Associate
Sarah has over 15 years extensive experience working in the NHS and became a Senior Hand Specialist. She joined our clinic at the start of 2009 for a new challenge in private healthcare.
Sarah completed her physiotherapy training in London in 1986.
Since then she has practised in the UK and Canada and in the last 16 years has been based in Stroud.
Working as a physiotherapist for over 20 years Sarah has extensive experience in treating musculoskeletal problems and has a special interest in orthopaedics and hydrotherapy.

Caroline Thomson
Associate
Caroline has been with Five Valleys Physiotherapy since 2007 providing her expertise in Occupational Health as well as within the clinic.
Caroline Thomson graduated from Manchester School of Physiotherapy in 2000. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health Professions Council.
She is also a member of the Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice (trading name Physio First) and a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics.
She worked in Bristol and London before joining Five Valleys Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in 2007 and specialises in general musculoskeletal assessment and treatment. Her interests include sport and travel.

This is used for the maintenance, recovery and injury prevention of athletes of any level, utilising an advanced physiotherapy knowledge base to determine any tissue alteration and to restore normal function. This is adapted depending on the athlete’s needs and training cycle.

Geoff Twinning

Geoff has acquired his Sports Massage Practitioner accreditation through the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine, and this is tailored towards the management of elite athletes.
Geoff has attended many sporting events as part of the medical team providing his physiotherapy skills but also his sports massage background as pre, during and post event management. He has worked at the Home Nations Basketball championships, British University Championships and University Games and in May 2009 has been appointed to work at the UK Schools Games.

Acupuncture

This is used as an additional physiotherapy tool to assist in pain relief, restoration of joint mobility and function. Additional benefits include headache management and nerve pain.
All of our therapists who perform acupuncture hold a post graduate certificate and are registered with the Association of Acupuncture for Chartered Physiotherapists.

Cranio Sacral Therapy

This is a gentle form of treatment using the therapist’s hand to listen to the body’s stresses and areas of tension. It engages the nervous system to help assess conditions as well as an effective treatment tool. This is a recognised therapy and is governed by an International body.

‘The incidence of back and neck pain is continuing to rise. 90% of the population will experience back pain at some point in their life’. All of our chartered physiotherapists are experienced in treating all types of back and neck pain including disc complaints and whiplash injuries. Our treatment is all evidence-based and we will prescribe exercises to assist your recovery. Many techniques are available from acupuncture, Cranio-Sacral Therapy and the Sarah Keys Approach to Back Pain. |
